Short-Term
Goal: To increase the number of homeless we house each
month to a minimum of ten. We initially housed
five individuals a month and currently house between
five and twelve a month, depending on available funds.
We need to have a steady monthly income stream.

Goals: To purchase a home/homes that will provide bed
space to the homeless we serve.

Who is eligible for
assistance? Homeless individuals living on the streets
of downtown Sacramento.

How does a homeless person
apply for assistance? Individuals must apply in person at the
Cathedral basement on the first Sunday of each month at
3:00 p.m.

How many homeless are
served? The program houses between five and twelve
individuals each month, depending on available funds.

Who administers the
program? The Cathedral Saint Vincent de Paul (SVDP).

What are the
administrative costs to run the program? $0.00 (SVDP
is a volunteer organization and has no overhead. The creation, design, and upkeep of our website has been
donated to the program).

Where do the homeless
live? Individuals are provided with a bed in a
group house in Sacramento.

How
does the program work? Individuals are provided with guidance, clothes, bus passes,
food, and all that is necessary to achieve a life of
self-sufficiency within three months. During the
initial interview process we are able to set realistic
goals with the individual. Those accepted into the
program are taken to the house where they are assigned a
bed, provided with food, and introduced to their house
mates. Individuals, with our assistance, work to
achieve their goals.

Drug and Alcohol Use: Zero tolerance. Drugs and alcohol are not allowed
in the house. Violators must leave.
